Teachers union accuses CPS of ‘stonewalling,’ contract deal unlikely by year-end

The Chicago Teachers Union on Monday reported progress in their quest for a contract with the school district but accused district stakeholders with “stonewalling” on several key issues, making a deal by year’s end unlikely.

With Chicago Public Schools closed Monday for the holidays, union and district officials were back at the bargaining table. The teachers report progress on their critical issues, including staffing improvements and support for bilingual education.
