The African Family Life Delegate Conference (AFLDC), hosted by the Institute of Family Engineering and Development (IFED) to commemorate the United Nations International Day of the Family, focused on the theme “Traversing Cultures: Harnessing African Family Life, Solutions for Global Impact.” The event began with a dynamic Wazobia dance and an inspiring opening address by Mr. Praise Fowowe and Mrs. Chidinma Nwobi. Keynote speaker Professor Ngozi Osarenren emphasised the importance of African cultural values in shaping identity through community engagement, family ceremonies, and storytelling. Mr. Iyinoluwa E. Aboyeji discussed how technology can enhance family values through mealtime, early education, and constant communication. Various panels highlighted the role of rituals, oral traditions, and the need for resilience and mental wellness. The conference concluded with a call to reclaim and celebrate African heritage, leverage technology for family cohesion, and ensure cultural values remain vibrant and impactful across generations.
