Research led by Guangbo Qu from Anhui Medical University indicates a correlation between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and emotional and behavioral issues among children and adolescents. The study reveals that higher levels of ACE exposure correspond to increased risks of sleep disturbances, emotional and behavioral problems, and lower academic performance. Although the study’s design does not confirm causality, the significant associations observed contribute to existing evidence suggesting the profound impact of ACEs on mental health. Addressing ACEs is crucial to combating the youth mental health crisis.
