Teacher Arraigned for Alleged Sexual Assault of Six-Year-Old

A 25-year-old teacher, Omobolanle Micheal Olaniyi, was arraigned in Lagos on charges of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old student. The incident allegedly took place at Oliver Care Montessori School in Ogba, where he taught. Olaniyi was arrested on July 24, 2023, and faces charges of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault by penetration. The case is being heard at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court by Justice Ramon Oshodi, with the charges falling under Sections 135 and 261 of Lagos State Criminal Laws.

The charges detail that Olaniyi allegedly sexually assaulted a 6-year-old female student in July 2023 at Oliver Care Montessori School, Ogba. Specifically, he is accused of inappropriately touching the victim’s buttocks, placing her on his lap, and sexually assaulting her by digital penetration. Olaniyi pleaded not guilty to all charges. Justice Oshodi ordered him to be held in custody and scheduled the next hearing for February 4, 2025.
