Teacher Arrested After Abusing 2-Year-Old at Kuala Langat Childcare Centre

A disturbing case of child abuse has come to light in Selangor after a 38-year-old female teacher was arrested for abusing a 2-year-old girl at a childcare centre in Bandar Rimbayu, Kuala Langat.
According to Kuala Langat police chief Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, the incident, which occurred around 6 pm on 18 August, was exposed after the child’s mother lodged a report on 24 August.
CCTV footage obtained from the centre reportedly showed the teacher dragging the toddler by her hair from the classroom to the bathroom, striking her head with a small food cover and a water bottle, and even kicking her while dragging her with her feet.
Although the affected child did not sustain visible injuries, police stressed that the actions clearly amounted to both physical and mental abuse.
The teacher, a local woman, was taken into custody on the same day the report was filed and was remanded for five days before being released on police bail.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Children’s Act 2001, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both if convicted.
This case underscores the fundamental rights of every child, the right to safety, dignity, and protection from all forms of violence. No child should ever be subjected to abuse, whether physical or emotional, and it is the shared responsibility of families, communities, and institutions to ensure their well-being.
