A tragic shooting at Antioch High School in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday claimed the lives of two students, including the 17-year-old, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident, which unfolded in the school cafeteria, also left another student injured.

According to police, the shooter, identified as Solomon Henderson, opened fire with a pistol, striking 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante, who later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. A male student sustained a graze wound to his arm and was treated at the same hospital.

Amid the chaos, a third student suffered a facial injury after falling, though it was unrelated to gunfire.

Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the shooting. Nashville Police Chief John Drake said it remains unclear if the victims were intentionally targeted. Initial findings suggest the students may have been struck by random gunfire.

Following the incident, a SWAT team searched the school and confirmed there was no ongoing threat. Police assured the community that the school is now safe.

As investigations continue, the Antioch High School community is left grieving the devastating loss of life and grappling with the aftermath of the violence.
