WAEC Postpones Full CBT Implementation to 2027
WAEC has shifted the full rollout of computer-based testing (CBT) for the SSCE to 2027, instead of 2026 as earlier directed by the Federal Government.
The 2026 WASSCE will now be a pilot phase, giving students the choice of either CBT or the traditional paper-and-pen exam.
At the WAEC Nigeria National Committee meeting in Umuahia, Chairperson Hajia Binta Abdulkadir assured that no student will be disadvantaged during the transition. The council also honoured the top three candidates nationwide and outstanding visually impaired students for excellence in the 2024 WASSCE.
Abia State Governor Alex Otti commended WAEC for strengthening exam integrity and promoting quality education across the country.
This transition must uphold children’s rights to equal access, fair assessment, and inclusive learning, ensuring every student can participate fully in the examination process.
