10 Suspects Remanded for Rape of 16-Year-Old Girl with Disability in Kaduna

Ten suspects have been remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl living with a disability in Likoro village, Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The case, reopened after initial mishandling, revealed that the affected child had been continuously abused from the age of 14, resulting in pregnancy and the birth of a child.
The prosecutor stated that the crime violated Section 257 of the Kaduna State Penal Code. The trial judge ordered their remand while awaiting advice from the Ministry of Justice and adjourned the case to May 22, 2025.
The Kaduna State Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, assured that the government would pursue justice, support the affected child and her child, and uphold laws protecting women, children, and vulnerable individuals.
The state reaffirmed its stance against abuse, warning that violators would face strict penalties.
