Tragedy has struck in Gainesville, Texas, where 11-year-old sixth grader Jocelynn Rojo Carranza died by suicide after enduring months of relentless bullying from classmates. The young girl was reportedly tormented over her family’s immigration status, with some students even threatening to contact U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

On February 3, Jocelynn’s mother, Marbella Carranza, received a devastating call—her daughter had attempted to take her own life inside their home. She was rushed to an intensive care unit in Dallas but sadly passed away on February 8.

Reports reveal that Gainesville Intermediate School was well aware of the bullying. Students allegedly mocked Jocelynn, telling her she would be left alone once her parents were deported. The harassment became so intense that she was meeting with a school counselor multiple times a week. Yet, shockingly, her family was never informed of the situation.
