In northern Dane County, a school bus rolled over during a snowstorm near Roxbury around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Amid the chaos, students Ryder, 13, and Shelby Falkenstein, 14, acted quickly to ensure the safety of their peers. Ryder described hearing the bus driver scream and feeling the bus swerve before it overturned. Despite feeling nauseous, Ryder attempted to open the emergency hatch, eventually succeeding after kicking it open and helping four children escape the smoking bus. Meanwhile, Shelby called 911. Emergency responders reported only minor injuries, and everyone was ultimately safe. Ryder and Shelby are praised for their calm and effective responses.
