Meet Mari Copeny, a 16-year-old from Flint, Michigan, globally recognized as Little Miss Flint. Born on July 6th, 2007, Mari made headlines when her letter to President Obama regarding the water crisis prompted his visit to Flint, ultimately leading to $100 million in relief funds.
Despite her young age, Mari has become a powerful voice against environmental racism, confronting neglectful leadership and advocating for communities affected by toxic infrastructure.
Mari’s activism extends beyond Flint. She serves as a national youth ambassador for the Women’s March on Washington and the National Climate March, while also combating bullying with Trendsetters Productions and advocating for justice with the Flint Youth Justice League. As the chairwoman of the board for Kid Box and a member of Eighteen by 18, Mari continues to inspire change on a national scale.
Through her Flint Kids projects, Mari has raised over $700,000, providing essentials like school supplies, toys, and water filters to her community. Her efforts have garnered international attention, with features in major publications like Teen Vogue, TIME, and The Washington Post.
