A school bus driver in Greenup County, Kentucky, Lisa Nichols, 57, was charged with public intoxication while waiting to transport students. The Flatwoods Police Department was alerted by a staff member, and Nichols admitted to drinking at a local restaurant. She failed a breath test with a .133 BAC and exhibited signs of intoxication. Nichols was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place. Greenup County Schools Superintendent Traysea Moresea confirmed that no students were on the bus with Nichols and that all bus routes were covered. Nichols is no longer employed by the school district. Moresea emphasized the district’s commitment to safety and praised the alertness that prevented a potential danger.
