Tax Credits Being Offered to Businesses in Florida that help offset costs of child care for Employees

Florida is introducing child care tax credits for businesses to alleviate some of the financial burden on parents, potentially reducing weekly childcare expenses. The initiative aims to make childcare more affordable and addresses concerns shared nationwide about high costs and limited returns in the childcare sector. The Florida Chamber of Commerce notes that childcare issues are a leading cause of workforce exits or job changes in the state. The reintroduction of tax credits, reminiscent of a previous statute from 1985 to 2008, incentivizes businesses to establish on-site childcare facilities, offering credits up to $3,600 per employee and covering 50% of start-up costs.
