GRNMA Calls for Cancellation of certificate, Diploma Nursing Courses

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) is advocating for the cancellation of certificate and diploma nursing programs in favor of elevating all nursing education to the degree level. This proposal aims to address challenges in Ghana’s healthcare sector by ensuring a more qualified and professional nursing workforce. Dr. David Tenkorang Twum, General Secretary of the GRNMA, emphasized the need to phase out lower-level programs to focus on degree preparation, highlighting the dominance of auxiliary nurses and the potential for improved healthcare outcomes with higher qualifications. The proposal includes plans to upgrade current nurses through additional training opportunities.
