In Georgia, 12-year-old Maria Gomez-Perez, who had been missing since May 29, was found safe on July 25 with 31-year-old Antonio Agustin. Maria had been communicating with Agustin and other adult males online before her disappearance. Authorities believe Agustin, who allegedly drove from Ohio to pick her up, had been holding her at his home during her absence. The case broke when Maria contacted her father via a new Facebook account to ask him to stop searching for her. This led to her location being traced to Dover, Ohio, where she was found at a swimming pool with Agustin. Agustin was arrested outside a shopping center, and Maria was safely recovered. Authorities are expected to file multiple felony charges against Agustin for moving a minor across state lines.
