Amanda Chong, a future President’s Scholar, found her primary school experience disengaging until she joined the Gifted Education Programme (GEP) at Raffles Girls’ Primary School in Primary 4. This program, designed for intellectually advanced students, provided her with challenging academic work and peers of similar ability, greatly enriching her educational experience. The GEP, established 40 years ago, aimed to nurture children with exceptional intellectual abilities by offering an enriched curriculum. It initially included both primary and secondary levels but has since focused solely on primary education after the secondary segment ended in 2008.
