The UK government, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, has paused plans to increase the minimum income requirement for sponsoring family members on a family visa. Currently, the minimum income threshold remains at £29,000, as set from April 11, 2024, due to a review by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC). The proposed incremental increases, which aimed to align the threshold with the general salary for skilled workers, are on hold.
