School Districts Adjust Schedules Due to Severe Weather Threat

Several Lowcountry school districts have announced closures for Wednesday in response to the threat of severe weather, which includes potential tornadoes, strong winds between 36-46 mph, and gusts up to 75 mph.
School District Closures:
- Charleston County School District – Closed Wednesday
- Berkeley County School District – Closed Wednesday
- Dorchester District 2 – eLearning procedures in place
- Dorchester District 4 – Closed Wednesday
- Colleton County School District – Closed Wednesday, all afterschool activities canceled
- Orangeburg County School District – Closed Wednesday, athletic events postponed
- Beaufort County School District – No school, eLearning, or extracurriculars Wednesday
The Orangeburg County School District warns that the storm is expected to impact the area between 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with dangerous wind conditions affecting school bus travel.
Private & Charter School Closures:
- Palmetto Christian Academy – Closed Wednesday
- First Baptist School of Charleston – Closed Wednesday
- Learn4Life High School-Charleston – eLearning, live virtual classes begin at 8 a.m.
Additionally, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will open at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Officials urge residents to stay updated on weather alerts and prioritize safety during the storm.
