It’s been two years since Houston ISD staff and families were jolted by the news that the state was taking over Houston ISD, a span that has been filled with upheaval. A large employee exodus ensued and yearslong enrollment declines were exasperated. The state’s largest school district also celebrated academic gains on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness and the National Assessment of Educational Progress.
