Missing Babcock University Student Found, Mother Confirms
A student of Babcock University who was earlier declared missing has been found, his mother confirmed on Sunday. Fijabi Oyindamola Omotayo made the announcement via her Facebook page just days after she publicly raised the alarm over her son’s mysterious disappearance from the university campus.
In a series of emotional appeals, Omotayo had expressed deep anguish, calling on the public and the school authorities to help find her son. She explained that she had dropped him off at school on Monday, April 27, and last spoke with him on Wednesday. Since then, she had been unable to reach or locate him, leading to growing fears about his safety.
Her concerns were further heightened by the role of two fellow students, who were reportedly the last people to see him before he vanished. According to Omotayo, when she contacted the university management, they responded dismissively, suggesting her son might still be roaming around campus, a response she found deeply inadequate and troubling.
She accused the university of shielding the two students, questioning why they had not been thoroughly interrogated.
Omotayo also shared details about her son’s emotional state in the days leading up to his disappearance. She said he had recently returned home to register for the UTME in a bid to change his course of study from Mass Communication to Property Law. She noticed he seemed withdrawn, and when she asked about his phone, a newly purchased iPhone 11 Pro Max, he told her he had left it with a student at school. The student confirmed this over the phone, which gave her temporary reassurance.
Despite her fears, Omotayo never lost hope. In tearful public messages, she pleaded for help, saying she was completely alone in the world aside from her son. Her words captured the attention and sympathy of many who followed the story.
Thankfully, her cries were not in vain. With public pressure mounting and awareness spreading, the son has now been found and reunited with his mother. While details about where he was or what led to his disappearance remain unclear, the relief in Omotayo’s announcement was evident.
