Tragedy in Anambra: Five Siblings Dead from Suspected Food Poisoning, Mother Hospitalized

Heartbreak has engulfed the Ogidi community in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State, where five siblings have died from what doctors suspect was food poisoning. Their mother is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
According to 79-year-old Robinson Arinze Aghalu, a retired soldier and father of the children, the tragedy struck shortly after the children consumed a meal prepared by their mother. The children began experiencing severe stomach pains and vomiting before being rushed to several hospitals, including a nearby maternity clinic, Iyienu Mission Hospital, and Crown Hospital. Despite efforts to save them, five of the six children died.
The only surviving child had been staying with a relative at the time of the incident.
A family member confirmed that their mother is still fighting for her life. “The family is devastated. The community is rallying around them with support and condolences,” a relative shared.
Pa Aghalu, now left with one child and a critically ill wife, is appealing for help to cover medical bills and other urgent needs. Community members have begun sharing his account details to support the grieving family in their time of unimaginable sorrow.
