Parent Hires Thugs to Assault Vice Principal for Preventing Cheating in WAEC Exam

The Vice Principal of Complete Child Development College, Aule, Akure, Mr. Rotifa, was reportedly assaulted by suspected thugs allegedly hired by a student’s parent after he prevented the student from cheating during the ongoing West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams.
According to a preliminary investigation by the Ondo State Ministry of Education, the incident began on May 26, when Mr. Rotifa confiscated an android phone found with an SS3 student, a violation of exam regulations.
The student’s mother later stormed the school, confronting management and demanding the return of the phone, which the school proprietor eventually approved.
The situation escalated when the student’s brother, a former student of the school, visited and threatened the Vice Principal. Later that day, after police accompanied Mr. Rotifa in search of the suspects, the boys allegedly waylaid the police van, forcibly removed Mr. Rotifa, and brutally assaulted him.
Mr. Rotifa was hospitalized following the attack. Although he has since been discharged, he reportedly avoided returning home due to safety concerns.
Authorities have begun an investigation, and security measures are being reinforced at the school to ensure the safety of staff and students for the remainder of the WAEC exams.
