Human trafficking in West Africa: three out of four victims are children says UNODC report

December 28, 2023: A 2021 UNODC report, presented in Abuja in collaboration with NAPTIP, reveals a startling statistic: three-quarters of trafficking victims in West Africa are children. This comprehensive study, covering 148 countries and the majority of the world’s population, sheds light on the alarming prevalence of child trafficking in the region, predominantly for forced labor, and underscores the urgent need for collaborative efforts to combat this crime.
