Ime-Obi Secondary School, Agbor Obi, has emerged victorious in the scholarship quiz competition organized by the Margaret Ogbeide Memorial Foundation, held in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The competition was designed not only to promote academic excellence but also to affirm every child’s right to participate and be heard,  a right enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Abaye Blessing and Jolly Victory of Ime-Obi Secondary took 1st place, while Agwa-Ewuru Mixed Secondary School and Abavo Girls’ School claimed 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In his welcome speech, Mr. Victor Ogbeide, founder of the foundation, stated that the initiative was established in memory of his late mother, a passionate educationist, to empower indigent children through education.

The Foundation awarded a total of ₦1 million in scholarships to students from SS1 and SS2, affirming that education is the greatest equalizer, and not, as some may claim, a scam.

The Chairman of Ika South LGA, Mr. Jerry Ehiwarior, commended the foundation’s role in easing the burden of parents and providing opportunities for youths to shine. He hailed Ogbeide as a “shining star” for transforming personal loss into public good.
