The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has launched the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative in Nasarawa State. The move as aimed at tackling maternal and child mortality in vulnerable communities across the 13 local government areas of the state. PUNCH Online reports that MAMII utilises a sector wide approach to implement interventions, focusing on key areas such as improving access to skilled birth attendants, enhancing community engagement, increasing health facility utilisation, strengthening primary healthcare services, improving referral systems, among others.
