West African Examinations Council Releases 2026 WASSCE Timetable as Exam Dates Are Announced

The West African Examinations Council has released the official timetable for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, outlining key dates and subject schedules for the examination period.

According to the final international timetable published on the council’s official X handle, the examination will commence on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and conclude on Friday, June 19, 2026.

The examination is set to begin with Foods and Nutrition 3 (Practical) Planning Session and Home Management 3 (Practical) Planning Session, marking the start of weeks of written and practical assessments across various subject areas.

The WASSCE remains a major qualification for secondary school students seeking admission into universities and other tertiary institutions. It covers core subjects such as English Language and Mathematics, alongside a wide range of electives in sciences, arts, humanities, and vocational and technical disciplines.

The examination will be conducted across WAEC member countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia, with thousands of candidates expected to participate.
