Edo NSCDC Rescues Abducted Teen Girl, Arrests Two Suspects in Shocking Kidnap Case

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo State have rescued a 15-year-old girl who was abducted in Oghu Community, Ewohimi, in Esan South East Local Government Area of the state. Two suspects linked to the incident were also arrested.

The incident occurred on June 19, 2026, after the teenager reportedly left her home to buy a phone charging cord but did not return. Her family raised an alarm after efforts to locate her proved unsuccessful, sparking concern in the community.

According to the NSCDC spokesperson in Edo State, Efosa Ogbebor, the suspected abductors later contacted the family and demanded a ransom of N800,000. They also warned the family not to involve security agencies.

Despite the threats, security operatives launched an investigation that led to the safe rescue of the girl within the same community where she was taken.

The suspects, a 16-year-old and a 21-year-old, were arrested during the operation and are currently in custody as investigations continue.

The rescued teenager is now in protective care while authorities work to conclude the case and ensure proper prosecution of those involved.

The NSCDC confirmed that efforts are ongoing to strengthen child protection measures and prevent similar incidents in the state.

Officials also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and encouraged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.

The command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding children and ensuring that perpetrators of such crimes are brought to justice.
