‘Beaten and Burned’: 10-Year-Old Boy Recovering After Brutal Assault by Guardians in Anambra, Says Nonye Soludo

A 10-year-old boy identified as Chiziterem is recovering steadily after an alleged assault by his guardians in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The case drew public attention after a viral video showed the child with severe burns and visible injuries. The incident has intensified calls for stronger child protection systems in the state.
The Anambra State First Lady, Nonye Soludo, confirmed that the affected person is responding positively to treatment. She gave the update during a follow-up hospital visit where she met with medical personnel handling his care. According to her, the child has become stronger and is showing steady improvement.
Medical workers said early intervention played a key role in his recovery. They continue to monitor his condition closely to ensure full physical healing. Psychological support has also begun as part of his treatment plan.
Nonye Soludo praised the medical team for their dedication and commitment. She also acknowledged the public support and prayers that followed the incident. She explained that the combined effort has helped stabilise the child’s condition.
Meanwhile, child protection advocates have renewed calls for communities to report abuse cases quickly. They stress that early reporting can prevent severe harm. The First Lady also urged residents to speak up whenever they notice signs of neglect or violence against children.
She emphasized that every child deserves safety, care, and protection. According to her, silence allows abuse to continue unchecked.
Authorities in Anambra State encouraged citizens to use emergency hotlines such as 112 and 5111 to report abuse cases. The government assured continued care and monitoring until the affected person fully recovers and safely returns to family care.
