FGC Kaduna Targets School Bullies, Introduces Indefinite Suspension Rule
The management of Federal Government College (FGC), Kaduna, has reiterated its stance on child protection by implementing stringent measures to prevent bullying and warning that any student found guilty of bullying will face indefinite suspension.
Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman, Ibrahim Abdul, said that the college had taken a zero-tolerance policy with the close collaboration between the parents, PTA and school management to make the learning environment safer for all children.
Abdul said they have been monitoring the situation regularly, including unannounced visits at various times of the day, which has helped to cut down on bullying and improved the supervision of students’ welfare.
He emphasized that the school’s disciplinary policy makes it clear that bullying will not be tolerated as all children have the right to learn in a safe environment, free from fear, intimidation and abuse.
Students who bully face the possibility of being suspended indefinitely, he said, in order to keep children who are being bullied safe and to stop them from being bullied.
Abdul also urged PTAs in Nigeria to collaborate with school management to enhance child protection protocols and prevent bullying from getting out of hand.
