March 20 2024- Parents of students enrolled in a French immersion class at a Toronto public school are expressing concerns about staffing issues negatively impacting their children’s education. Throughout the current school year, the class has been led by three substitute teachers, one of whom reportedly does not speak French. Additionally, one more new teacher is yet to join the class.

Christine Cowern, whose four-year-old child attends the junior kindergarten French immersion program at John English Junior Middle School, initially appreciated the small class size of 15 students, hoping for more personalized attention. However, the class and its teacher were abruptly changed three weeks into the school year.
