Grace Udeme Esenowo, a 22-year-old mother of four, garnered widespread attention after sharing that she was feeding her children poultry feed due to severe poverty. Her story went viral on social media, leading to support from Pastor Patience Umo Eno, the wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor. Eno has provided Grace and her family with accommodation, food, and financial aid, offering them a new hope and improving their situation significantly.
Grace, a single mother who struggled to support her family on a N15,000 monthly salary after her husband’s death, has seen her situation improve dramatically thanks to public support and intervention from the governor’s wife. She has been moved to a furnished apartment, her salary increased to N35,000, and she will receive training in income management. Additionally, she will gain skills in hairdressing and foodstuff trading, resume her education, and receive financial mentorship, all aimed at ensuring long-term stability and a better future for her children.
Dr. Uduak Ekong, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor’s wife, highlighted the comprehensive support being provided to Grace, including financial aid, mental evaluation, and skills training. This holistic approach aims to help Grace rebuild her life after her challenging experiences. Her journey, from feeding her children poultry feed to receiving significant community support, serves as an inspiring example of resilience and the impact of collective compassion.
