The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, announced plans to introduce a new secondary school curriculum nationwide by September 2024. He shared this information during the 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board policy meeting in Abuja, emphasizing that the curriculum development process has been ongoing for a year. Mamman also mentioned that a stakeholders’ meeting is scheduled for August 6, 2024, as part of the preparation for the curriculum rollout.
The minister announced plans to implement a new education program in all schools by September. Recently, the National Senior Secondary School Education Commission highlighted several challenges facing senior secondary schools nationwide, such as inadequate infrastructure, unqualified teachers, outdated curriculum, and poorly equipped libraries and laboratories. They called for collaborative efforts to address these issues.
