Gombe Ward Head Arrested for Rape of 12-Year-Old Girl
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested 54-year-old Mohammed Tukur of Sabon Gari Village, Zambuk, for raping a 12-year-old girl, Zulei Malam Dahiru, in the Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson DSP Buhari Abdullahi said operatives from the Zambuk Division responded promptly, visiting the scene, rushing the affected child to the General Hospital Zambuk for medical examination, and arresting the suspect. Tukur remains in custody as investigations continue.
The Command condemned all forms of sexual violence and urged residents to report such crimes immediately for swift action.
This incident constitutes a clear violation of the Child’s Rights Act, which protects children from all forms of sexual abuse, exploitation, and violence.
