Kaduna Woman Arrested for Feeding Acid to Co-Wife’s Baby
The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a woman, Zaliha Shuaibu, for allegedly killing her co-wife’s three-month-old baby by feeding him acid in Malari village, Soba LGA.
The tragic incident occurred on May 13, 2025, when the baby’s mother, Maryam Ibrahim, briefly left her child to use the bathroom. She returned to find Zaliha holding the infant, who was foaming at the mouth with visible neck injuries.
The child was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to police spokesperson ASP Mansir Hassan, Zaliha confessed during interrogation that she carried out the act with Lawal Muhammad, her husband’s younger brother, who allegedly supplied the acid and is currently on the run.
Kaduna State Police Commissioner, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has vowed to apprehend all those involved and ensure justice is served.
