Lagos Court Sentences Music Teacher to Life Imprisonment for Defiling Pupil
Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced 35-year-old music teacher, Anthony Okeh, to life imprisonment for defiling a nine-year-old JSS 1 student. The judge condemned Okeh as a “pathological liar” and “a soulless man without any iota of shame.”
The court found the testimony of the affected child compelling and corroborated by investigative evidence. The judge highlighted the importance of recruiting teachers with high moral standards and called for stronger collaboration in addressing sexual violence.
Okeh’s name has been added to the Lagos State Sexual Offences Register.
