Patrick Clancy’s Lawyer Threatens Legal Action Over Claims About Children’s Deaths

The lawyer for Patrick Clancy has said he will take legal action against anyone who spreads conspiracy theories about his involvement in the deaths of his three children, saying those responsible will face “consequences”.

Clancy’s children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, passed away at their family home in Duxbury, Massachusetts in January 2023. Through her lawyer, their mother, Lindsay Clancy, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, but admitted that she killed the children. The mental state of her mother at the time is a key part of the case.

Lindsay Clancy’s trial last week was a mistrial after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict. The case has also been the subject of much online discussion, with unsupported claims about Patrick Clancy, even though his involvement in the case was never mentioned in court.

Howard Cooper, Patrick’s attorney, stated in a statement that his client and his family had been subjected to a “campaign of misinformation and defamatory claims. The allegations had led to threats to Patrick’s reputation, livelihood and life, he said.

Police had been notified and legal action would be taken against those responsible, Cooper said.

The controversy has sparked worries about the effect of online rumors about children, especially when unverifiable rumors are quickly shared via social media.

One of the jurors who sat on the trial of Lindsay Clancy also took issue with the conspiracy theories, describing Patrick’s emotional 911 call upon discovering his children.

Lindsay Clancy’s next hearing is Sept. 29.
