The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 23 suspected teenage miscreants linked to a recent wave of assaults, harassment, and theft in the Mushin area of the state.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, the children, aged between 14 and 16, were apprehended on Monday in the Ishaga, Awolowo, and Ojuwoye areas of Mushin.

Hundeyin acknowledged the concerns raised by community members over the disturbing incidents, stating that the feedback prompted a thorough review of the police’s operational tactics.

In response, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has deployed additional tactical squads, police mobile force personnel, and conventional teams to Mushin and surrounding areas to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The police have since restored normalcy in the area, assuring residents that there is no cause for alarm. Hundeyin encouraged the public to go about their daily activities without fear.

He also noted that the Area Commander covering Mushin has been instructed to work closely with the two local government chairmen to strengthen security measures in the affected communities.

The police are continuing raids on identified criminal hideouts, black spots, and slum areas where these gangs are believed to operate. The 23 suspects are currently under investigation and will be charged to court soon.

Commissioner Jimoh reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents that their safety remains a top priority.
