A recent report by Save the Children revealed that around 15.6 million children in Nigeria are grappling with hunger as the lean season approaches in June. This figure marks a 25% increase compared to the same period in 2023, attributed to factors like escalating insecurity, prolonged conflict, banditry, and soaring food prices. The analysis, based on data from Cadre Harmonisé, a regional framework for food and nutrition insecurity, highlights that nearly 32 million Nigerians, including the aforementioned children, are at risk of experiencing severe hunger between June and August unless they receive food and cash aid.
