February 7 2024- wo schools, American Heritage School in American Fork and kids in Gaza, engaged in a cultural exchange program two years ago. The program involved video exchanges about their lives, with only two rules—no discussions about politics or religion. As the semester progressed, students developed affection for each other, viewing it less as an assignment and more as an opportunity. The program created lasting memories for the students. The teacher, Mr. Dye, connected with his counterpart in Gaza, Mr. Mohammed, and they shared a bond over having daughters the same age. The students initiated a GoFundMe to help repair roofs in the Jabalia Refugee Camp. However, recent intense conflict in Gaza has brought concerns about the well-being of the children they communicated with, as two of them reportedly died in the past two months.
