< 1 min read

A Tennessee elementary school teacher and principal have been indicted following an investigation by the state’s comptroller’s office. The investigation revealed that the principal authorised falsified timesheets for the teacher, resulting in nearly $8,000 in undeserved wages and benefits. The teacher was paid for hours she never worked at an after-school programmeme and for hours she didn’t work in a school tutoring ram. The Henderson County Grand Jury indicted the teacher on charges including theft of property, destruction of records, and official misconduct, while the principal faces charges including theft of property, computer crimes, and official misconduct. Comptroller Jason Mumpower emphasised the importance of requiring signed timesheets to reduce the risk of fraud, waste, or abuse.
