A 12-year-old girl in Abia State has been rescued after an alleged attack by her aunt, bringing renewed attention to the need for stronger protection of children from violence within homes and caregiving environments. The Abia State Police Command said it arrested a 35-year-old woman, identified as Nwoko Gift, after a video showing an alleged assault on the child circulated widely on social media.
