Lost Your JAMB Phone Number or Email? Board Approves One-Time Change for Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given candidates the opportunity to change their GSM numbers and email addresses once only, where they have lost access to the contact details on their records.
The Board announced the new policy on Monday, 21st September, 2026, stating that the service is available to candidates with genuine cases at the designated JAMB Computer Based Test (CBT) centres.
JAMB said the candidates who are interested in the update should go to the Professional Test Centres (PTC), Professional Registration Centres (PRC) and State Offices as applicable. They will have to go through identity and biometric verification before they can change their registered phone number or email address.
The Board noted that the service is available only once and that candidates should make sure that any new contact information they give is correct and can be reached.
JAMB also cautioned candidates to avoid processing the change through any unauthorised agent or unofficial centre, urging them to only use the designated centres.
The policy is a part of JAMB’s ongoing efforts to expand its technology-driven services to candidates and tertiary admission processing.
The Board in August launched an online system for 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates to check and upload their O’Level results without having to go to a CBT centre. The verification fee is N4,000 which is agreed with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
According to JAMB, 2,243,816 candidates registered for the 2026 UTME across the country, with Lagos having the highest number of registrations at 321,814.
The candidates who lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses are now able to access their JAMB records through the approved one-time update process.
