Almost a year after early dismissals due to insufficient air conditioning in Philadelphia schools, the School District of Philadelphia is improving conditions with new air conditioning units in 10 additional schools. Gloria Casarez Elementary, which had 41 units installed, is among the schools benefiting from nearly 200 units provided by a $200,000 donation from Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts. While this helps, the challenge of cooling outdated buildings remains, especially with the school year starting before Labor Day and climate change exacerbating the issue.
