‘Do I have a Trust Fund?’ Viral ‘Teenager Texts’ highlight how Little Some Kids know about Money

< 1 min read

Chip Leighton, creator of The Leighton Show, has gained millions of views for sharing humorous texts from teenagers, many of which revolve around money-related questions. Leighton, who has two children, receives thousands of messages from parents, some of which he uses for his content. Common questions from teens include basic financial topics, like whether to tip the eye doctor or if an ATM will be open later. While Leighton doesn’t believe kids know less about finances, he notes that these questions are more documented today through texts. His new book, What Time Is Noon?, features some of the funniest texts, including those about first jobs and taxes. He plans a sequel due to the abundance of material.
