Emma Powell didn’t know where she was going to sleep from one day to the next after she was plunged into homelessness weeks after starting high school. “I had my 13th birthday in crisis housing. I wasn’t very hopeful,” she said. Her family was told to vacate its rental property for renovations and struggled to find a new place to live.
