Dr. Curtis Cain, superintendent of Rockwood School District, voiced frustration after the district did not receive any of Missouri’s $70 million in school safety grant funds. Rockwood, among only nine public districts in the state to apply and receive no funding, had prioritized safety with four armed officers. While 95% of applying schools received grants for safety upgrades, Rockwood and Ladue Schools were left out. The state has not revealed how grant applications were scored, maintaining confidentiality.
