The registration window for Colorado’s Universal Preschool program, which provides up to 15 hours a week of paid preschool for children in the year before they begin kindergarten, is now open, with more than 2,000 providers available for the 2025-26 school year.
The Universal Preschool program began in August of 2023. It has provided state-funded preschool instruction for more than 85,000 4-year-olds in Colorado, for an average savings of $6,100 per family in its initial year, spokesperson Carolyn Romero of the Colorado Department of Early Childhood wrote in a news release. Families with eligible children can still be enrolled for the 2024-25 school year directly through a provider of their choice, if space is available.
