With the school year approaching, JCPS transportation cuts are affecting Joy Ti Child Care in Highview. Cheryl Howlett, the day care owner, was informed last week that five children will no longer receive transportation to her facility. This change is due to a new policy where day cares will only receive transportation from nearby schools or those “grandfathered” in, such as Luhr, Hartstern, Smyrna, Bates, and Fern Creek Elementary. Howlett was not notified in advance, and JCPS has clarified that transportation is only guaranteed if students were transported from the same school last year and are not assured door-to-door service.
