The UN Secretary-General’s Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict reveals alarming statistics from 2022, including thousands of children killed, maimed, recruited into armed groups, abducted, and subjected to sexual violence. Additionally, there were numerous incidents of denial of humanitarian access and attacks on schools and hospitals. These violations highlight the urgent need to prioritise the protection of children in conflict zones and address the root causes that drive their involvement in armed conflicts.
