The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed that Lassa fever has claimed 214 lives nationwide, with the case fatality rate rising sharply to 25%, according to its latest situation report. The agency said the figures reflect an increase compared to the same period in 2025, as new infections continue to be recorded across several states, including Edo, Ondo, Bauchi and Ebonyi.
